Rules

A printable version of this document is available.

  1. All anglers must have a 2008 Alaska Department of Fish & Game fishing license. All anglers will follow the 2008 Fish & Game Regulations. Regulations are different in some locations. Check the rules. The angler who hooks a fish must have purchased a ticket prior to time of catch. Daily tickets must be for the day the fish is caught.
  2. Tournament boundary is all waters south of a line drawn due west at 59°46'113" just south of the Anchor River near the Coast Guard marker. This includes the Dudiak Fishing Lagoon (Homer Spit Fishing Hole). All fish must be taken from salt water.
  3. Fish must be caught with rod and reel legally in the mouth.
  4. Weigh In is at the Dudiak Fishing Lagoon (Homer Spit Fishing Hole) and at Halibut Derby Headquarters on the Homer Spit. Fish may be weighed in at either location. Weigh In is open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Dudiak Fishing Lagoon and 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Halibut Derby Headquarters. All fish must be caught and weighed in by 9:00 pm.
  5. All fish must be caught between 6:00 am August 9th and the end of the tournament on August 17th at 9:00 pm.
  6. All tickets must be validated at the time of purchase and weigh in.
  7. Any fish entered may be gutted and checked at the weight in stations.
  8. All entered fish must be caught off the Homer Spit, in the Dudiak Fishing Lagoon or on boats which left the Homer harbor.
  9. Given the size of the tournament fishing area, we have to rely on YOU, the angler, to use the honor system and self-police each other. If you see someone doing something questionable, ask them about it. If it appears they are breaking ADF&G rules, contact the state enforcement office at 235-8239. The dispatcher will immediately contact the troopers on the water. All complaints of tournament rule violations must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of the end of the tournament. Prize money will be awarded upon final results being approved by the Tournament Committee. Vessels and anglers repeatedly violating tournament and state rules with the intent to win the tournament may be banned from entering future tournaments sponsored by the Homer Chamber of Commerce.
  10. All entries and prize awards are subject to review and final determination is by the Tournament Committee. All prizes may be subject to IRS withholding.
  11. The Homer Chamber of Commerce and Homer Senior Citizens reserve the right to photograph all entrants, reproduce any photographs for publicity and retain all photo rights.
Rules are based on the Honor System. Entered anglers agree by purchasing a ticket to follow the tournament rules.
