§         Knitting Circle every Wednesday night at the CommuKnitty Stash yurt in The Yurt Village from 6:30 to 8:30.  All are welcome, come knit in our cozy little yurt.

§         HOOP PLAY (Drop-in, ALL AGES, ALL LEVELS)
Thought hula hooping was just for kids?  Well, think again!  HoopDancing is sweeping the nation as a great new exercise for adults and kids alike. Come play around with Cosmic Hoops, and join the fun.  Hoops provided, or bring your own.  
Saturdays at 1:00pm - 2:00pm $5 a class plus $3 CS drop-in fee. 

  • West Homer Elementary School 

§         Pickup Outdoor Soccer  Sunday, Wednesday & Friday 6:30 –10:00  (7:30 on 7/22) For Youth & Adults 8th grade & up.  235-6090 $15 for the summer  June  at WHE.  July & August at HMS.

§         Green Room:  Latin Dance Group Therapy 6:30 on Wednesdays with Janette Aragones Ongoing spring & summer $5- for 6 classes per person or $12 drop-in fee per person, per night.  (No classes 5/5, 7/7 & 7/14)

§         Green Room:  Pilates.  Bring a yoga mat or towel.  Contact Teresa Olesch, PT. FMI Call 399-5589.  Tuesdays & Thursdays 5-6pm, ongoing spring & summer.  $20 community schools fee plus punch card $5 per class. 

§         Mat Room:  Art & Sport of Kenpo Karate.   Tuesdays & Thursdays Adults & children 5 years & older 6-8 pm, ongoing.   $130 per 13 week semester or $6 per class + $25 community schools fee.

§         Open Weight Room: Monday through Thursday 6-8  punch cards offered through community schools.  Dress appropriately.  Wear clean indoor sneakers. [Adult punch cards 10 punches for $35.  20 punches for $65.  Youth 10 for $20, 20 for $35]

§         Foyer:  Fencing.  Mondays & Thursdays September through May 5:30 – 8:30 $100 every 3 months. 

§         Gym:  Evening Pickup Basketball.  Tuesday & Thursdays ongoing Spring 8:30 – 10, summer 7-10.  Gym closed 1st 2 weeks in July.  [Adult punch cards 10 punches for $35.  20 punches for $65.  Youth 10 for $20, 20 for $35]

§         Pool:  PADI Open Water Diver Course.  Ongoing classes offered every month.  Call 235-8808.

§         Pool:  Various Kayak courses.  Call 235-2090.

  • Cycle Logical Bicycle Shop   Open Bike Shop – come and learn more about your bicycle.  Taught by Derek Reynolds 226-2925  Every Sunday 6-9  $10 per session +1-time $12 CS fee. Year Round.  Punchcards 10 for $90.
  • Haas Studio

§         5Rhythms Movement Class with Gail Edgerly.  5Rhythms is a form of freestyle dance.  This movement practice is for anyone.  If you can breathe you can dance. FMI go to www.movmentashealer.com Mondays from 6-7:15PM

·         Alaska Department of Fish & Game  has a fishing rod loaner program year round.  People can borrow fishing rods for up to a week.  Loaner rods are available at the front desk at Kachemak Bay Research Reserve at Islands & Oceans and at the Homer Fish & Fame office at 3298 Douglas Place.  To borrow a rod, a person will need to show a current fishing license and provide us with their contact information.  Call 235-8191

§         Peterson Bay Field Station Natural History Tours 8-4 Daily,  Tours continue daily Memorial Day until Labor Day. Explore & learn.  Join a CACS Naturalist on a guided natural history tour to explore tide pools, hike through a transitional temperate rain forest and learn more about the amazing natural history of Kachemak Bay

§         Peterson Bay Field Station Combo Tour 8-6 Daily, The above tour followed by a kayak excursion with St Augustine Tours.  Excursion continue daily Memorial Day until Labor Day.

§         Creatures of the Dock Tours 1PM and 4PM Daily $5 Tours continue daily Memorial Day until Labor Day. Join CACS staff on an unforgettable tour of the Homer Harbor and experience the amazing intertidal critters that can be found on our docks.  Check in at the CACS Yurt at Ramp 2.  Tour lasts 1 hour.

§         Wynn Nature Center Guided / Unguided Hike Join CACS Naturalists on a 1-2 hour guided hike through wildflower meadows, a transitional boreal forest and bogs of the Wynn Nature Center.  Hear songbirds, see signs of wildllife and enjoy the peacefulness of the Wynn Nature Center trails.  Guided hikes are offered daily at 10:00am and 2:00pm from June 12 - September 1. Unguided 10:00 AM -6:00 PM Daily.  Cost: $7 adults, $6 Over 60, $5 Under 18, $20 Family. Available June 12-September 1.

§         Learn Your Local Plants:  This Walk is a special guided hike provided weekly on Thursdays, June 12 through September 1, 6:30-7:30 p.m. FREE.  Learn to identify the plants in your backyard

§         Knee-High Naturalist Program Ages 2-4.  A preschool story hour that includes a hike and craft activity.  Fridays 10:30-11:30 AM June 18 – August.  Parents welcome.  $2 donation requested.

§         Bio-kids Ages 5-8.  Weekly series of programs exploring different themes in nature.  Tuesdays, 1-3.  The first five classes hav an arts 7 Nature focus and the second five classes investigate nature (trees, wildlife, wildflowers, birds, and rocks).  Drop-ins are welcome $6/class or 5 classes for $25

§         Wilderness Survival  Ages 8-11.  Weekly program that teaches youth how to survive in the wilderness. Includes building shelters, orienteering, fire building, medicinal & edible plants &^ more.  Thursdays 1-3, 10 classes June17 – August 19.  Drop-ins are welcome $6/class or 5 classes for $25

§         Day Camp  Ages 5-9 years old.  Daily Program Monday – Friday, 10:00-1:00.  Forest Explorers August 2 - 13

§         WSI:  (Wildlife Investigations)  Ages 9-12 years old Weekly program Wednesdays 1-3 pm 10 classes June 23 – August 18

§         Family Free Day Sundays – All Day Beginning June 20  Hike the trials, have a picnic, go bird watching, look for wildlife, smell the wildflowers!  Must have a minimum of one adult and one child, guided hikes not included unless you are a CACS member.

§         Guided & Self Guided Hikes   $7 adults, $6 seniors (60+), $5 youth (under 18)m $20 family.  Beginning June 15 – Labor Day  10 am & 2 pm dailly

Artrageous August Arts presents a weekend open to everyone.  The artists paint with friends old and new.  They have maps of painting sites and cell phone numbers posted at a central point.  They get together for lunches and a cookout on the beach or dinner at a local restaurant.  On the last day, they will have a show of produced work at a local venue.  Participants have joined from all over Alaska as well as the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada, Russia and France.  There is no cost to join.  Every level of artist is welcome.  There are no age restrictions except that young children must come with a responsible adult.  Contact Andy Sonneborn of Paintspot Studio & Gallery 907-277-3712.  www.sonnebornart.com

            Youth Only Fishery 11-3pm  The Aquatic Educational Classroom will be at the Dudiak Fishing Lagoon (fishing hole).  Fish & Game staff will be at the lagoon during the best fishing time.  Part of the lagoon will be marked for a youth only fishing zone.   235-1730
