*December 31 is a blue moon. This happens about 7 times in 19 years. The term is now used to describe the 2nd full moon of the calendar month. In the 1500’s it meant “impossible”. In the mid-1800s, the moon appeared to turn bue-ish due to massive amounts of forest fires and volcanic eruptions. Happy New Year and enjoy your blue moon.
