In Memory
of Marsha Million
From
starting one of the first water taxis in
Kachemak Bay, building her own home in
Little Jakolof Bay, and managing the sea
otter cleanup after the Exxon Valdez oil
spill, Marsha Million was always giving back
to her Kachemak Bay Communities with
enthusiasm.
With a curiosity and love of birds and
wildlife, Marsha served on the Kachemak Bay
Shorebird Festival Committee from the late
1990's up until 2002. Most volunteer
committee members just hopped in their cars
and drove to the refuge for the monthly
committee meetings, but for Marsha, despite
rain, snow or wind, it meant jumping in her
boat and making her way to Homer from the
south side of the Bay. Marsha also
designed several of the Festival posters,
until illness prevented her from doing so in
2003. These are two examples of her passion
and commitment to the Kachemak Bay Shorebird
Festival. Marsha Million passed away January
8, 2010 in Homer at the age of 60. |
