    • Artist-in-residence:  Jim Woodring, Cartoonist, the Arthur of Jim – Funded by the Rasmuson Roundation & United States Artists, Jim wil transorm the gallery space into a working studio this month and exhibit his work on the walls.  – an illustrated “autojournal” that includes drawings, comics and stories based on his childhood experiences and is perhaps best known s the creator of Frank, a wordless cartoon series.  All events will take place at Bunnell Street Arts Center. 235-2662

An evening with a true American legend.  Grammy-award winner and five-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan is a bluegrass singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades.  From his early years, playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, Rowan has built a devoted international fan base.  An opportunity to see an icon like Peter Rowan in a venue this size doesn’t come around very often.  We hope you join us in welcoming Peter back to Homer.

Teams compete for prize money to benefit their favorite charity.  Sign up for breakfast at 11 AM at the American Legion.  Check in at the Otter Room at 4 PM.  Last year, $1200 was earned for the Homer Food Pantry, $700 for Project Grad and $400 for K-Kids!

Michael Walsh and Asia Freeman’s exhibit explores stories, truths, myths, feats and failures memorialized in backyards.  Since pioneering days, we Alaskan have been known to hoard a lot of stuff.  Our backyards don’t conceal as much as they reveal shred experiences and dilapidated dreams.  Working with found objects, images and sound, collaborating multi-media artists reveal down-home Alaskan experiences for Backyard, Alaska.
