Homer Chamber Mixers

Chamber Mixers are available to Chamber Primary Business, Multiple Primary Business, Associate Business, and Associate Multiple Business Members to host, and offer a great way to showcase your business and services. Mixers are also an important social network between Homer business owners and managers.

Mixers are intended for Chamber members, invited guests, your clientele and persons interested in joining the Chamber, however they are open to the public to increase visibility to the wider community.

  • Eligible Members are limited to one mixer per calendar year.
  • Mixer reservations for the following calendar year will begin on September 1st of the current year.
  • Mixers are not available for hosting by Primary Individual Members, Reciprocal Members or Honorary Members.

Mixer Host Responsibilities

Mixers are held once a month and average approximately 20-40 people in attendance. Mixer attendance must be free to all Chamber members and the public. Mixers last two hours from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm generally on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of the month. The business hosting the Mixer is, at a minimum, expected to provide refreshments, an overview of their business operation, a tour of their facility, at least two door prizes valued at $50 each and an introduction of staff (if appropriate).

Transportation must be provided by the Mixer host if special transportation is needed, such as a Mixer taking place across the Bay. Special features such as door prize giveaways, games, entertainment or recreation activities often attract higher attendance.

Fees

The fee to host a Mixer is $100.

The fee is used strictly to offset the Chamber's real expenses incurred in the promotion of the Mixer. The fee is due in advance and is not refundable if the Mixer is canceled within the same month.

Procedure

  • Contact the Executive Assistant to sign up for a Mixer month. A Wait List will be utilized for months that are already booked. When there are cancellations, the Executive Assistant will contact the next member on the wait list to fill the month.
  • The month prior to a member's Mixer date, the Executive Assistant will contact the member to confirm the Mixer date and begin coordination and planning with the member host.

Promotion Activities

The Chamber will provide the following Mixer promotion activities:

  • One to two weeks before the Mixer, the Chamber will send out press releases to local news sources to alert the public.
  • Announcement in the Chamber newsletters, mailings and at Chamber events.
  • The week of the Mixer the Chamber will run a business card-sized paid ad in one local newspaper of the member's choice to announce the Mixer.
  • When volunteers or the host are able to hang up posters around town, the Chamber will coordinate making the posters.
  • A Chamber staff member will be on hand shortly before the Mixer begins to greet guests, provide name badges, and introduce the host at the Mixer.
